On August 20th, the community came together to raise funds for a very special recipient: the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA.) In the first annual Bags & BBQ Cornhole Tournament, folks filed in to Fill the Boot with donations, fill their bellies with BBQ, and fill the boards with cornhole bags.
Hosted by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 4123, the cornhole tournament was a hit! At $5 to enter, sign up started at 12 and bags started flying at 1pm. The event was co-sponsored by Spartan Emergency Water Removal, Stafford Firefighters Union, Mid-Atlantic Cornhole, and The Fraternal Order of the Eagles. All proceeds from this event were donated to MDA through the Fill the Boot Campaign.
This successful community outreach tournament was a wonderful opportunity for the Spartan team to give back to the community through volunteering at the event as well! Alongside FF Union, our volunteers had a blast at this indoor event, selling the raffle tickets, collecting donations, and helping ensure the success of the tournament.
The tournament itself offered some stiff competition, with the highest prize going for a whopping $1000! Second place won a cool $750. And 3rd was nothing to scoff at, walking away with $500. Winners also took home mini-cornhole board trophies, stamped with the logo of the event, their ranking, the date, and the sponsors listed at the bottom.
While this first year will be hard to beat, Spartan Emergency Water Removal is thrilled to have been a part of the very first Bags & BBQ Cornhole Tournament and cannot wait to see what future events will bring!
